Attachment filters allow you to enforce policies against email attachments based on file type. Since wildcards are supported, it is trivial to enforce policies based on file name extension.
If an attachment matches any of the file types indicated, the attachment can either be replaced with a warning or the entire e-mail can be filtered. If you chose to have the e-mail filtered, you may choose an action to take on the e-mail (click “Edit Filter Setting”).
To change the "Attachment Filters" settings:
- In your Control Panel, configuration options, click on the "Edit" link next to "Attachment Filters".
- Use the “Edit List” and “Edit Filter Setting” buttons to configure the actions taken for a given file type.
- When adding a new filter, the asterisk (*) is available for use as a wildcard character in the Filter: field. Be sure to accurately specify the action taken (either “Remove Attachment” or “Filter Entire E-mail”) in the Action: field.
- Click on “Close” to save your changes.
