I am very disappointed knowing that my stolen phone could be easily accessed after a hard reset. I wish i could get a feature or software to lock down my PPC permanently without the proper credentials.

Please let me know if anything come up. I've been enlightened by your article.

They used playstations because the power per dollar is very good for PS3s. Sony basically sells the PS3 at cost, hoping to get their money back on content and games. So, you inexpensively get a fast multicore processor that is very good at these types of math calculations.

Antivirus 2009 took over our computer not too long ago and it took hours to get rid of! Save yourself the time and you can use a free program called "Malwarebytes" or something like that. Do a quick scan, delete all the quarantined files and repeat 2-3 times. You will also need to restart your computer in between each time.

I hope the scammers get caught and thrown in jail!

Contact all of those scammers. Its very easy to find though. The amount of money you can get from suing those bad guys, may be incredible.

If anyone is willing to create an anti-webscam business, camp me in. I don't have much experience, but I do not think innocent people should be hurt.

Rico,

As Bansama noted above, most programs don't actually clean up after themselves very well and leave some files and registry settings. However, you should notice that it is no longer running.

I used the uninstaller and it said it removed everything.

I checked and SecuROM is still on my PC.

Just figured I'd throw that out to you, keeping in mind 'nothing' on my PC now uses securom.

I was just ripped off by Antivirus 2009 two days ago and did not realize this until now. It happened so fast and I was not able to research anything before purchasing the fraud application. I happened upon the fraud info today and have uninstalled the virus software using the correct methods...Now I need to be sure my credit card info is not going to be used over and over.

Hello Keith,
I had a similar experience. after several reboots with the malware starting and the fake BSOD, the PC wouldnt boot anymore. I was able to get around this by booting from a Windows CD and going into recovery mode. Then use the "chkdsk c:" to repair the C drive.

After the boot, I needed to do an F8 and start windows in safe mode. I was able to do a ctl-alt-del and get to task manager. Once there, I was able to kill off the malware process.

I was then able to use AVIRA to scan and isolate the infected files. The bogus screensave is still in place, and I too have the problem where the tab is now missing.
The other item that will help is going into the windows directory and rename the bougus .scr file, so it cant launch.

Hope this helps,
JohnGo
